Super Fun Saturday

Wow, what a packed Saturday we had. I started at 7am this morning with a nice 10 miler around the lake. Nothing like running 10 miles in about 70% humidity. Not the best weather conditions, but it still felt good to get in a long run. Then Isla and and I headed to the Farmer's Market for some yummy bread and I also picked up some tomoato cucumber dip...excellent, I might add. After a quick lunch we couldn't take the heat anymore. Mason suggested we load up the kiddies and head to the lake. We traveled to Island Lake, about 25 miles from DL, and enjoyed the afternoon there. The water is very clean and they have a great shore line you beach your boat on and get out and swim. The girls had a great time!! Isla even wore her goggles in the car on the way there to make sure she was ready. While the girls napped and I got things put away, Mason mowed our very long grass. (Seriously, what is with the weather this year, so much rain, we are mowing all the time!) After dinner it was time to hit the Becker County Fair. Even though it was VERY hot, we still had a fun time. Isla really liked seeing all the animals again this year and Greta seemed entertained as well. She sat in her stroller for an hour and a half while we took in all the fair sights. After the animals, Isla and Mason enjoyed a strawberry malt, and we then headed to the rides. I'm sure this was the highlight for Isla. Last year she was a bit scared, but not this year!! Oh no, she was ready and had such fun. We even met up with Mason's cousin, Jeremy and his family (his daughter Paige is also 3 years old). They went on a few rides together and were so funny! It was so much fun to see them laughing and giggling together. Well that concludes our super-fun-summer-Saturday and I am wiped out. Time for this momma to get to bed.

More Pics from Grandma & Grandpa visit

Here's a few more from the same weekend.

Fun with Grandpa & Grandma

My parents came to town for the last weekend of the Water Carnival and the girls had a great time with them. It's taken me a while to get around to putting some pictures on the blog, but here they are. Isla likes to "fight" (as she calls it) with Grandpa, which is actually just Grandpa tickeling her. She loves it and always asks for more. On Sunday we went to the fire hall and saw all the shiny fire trucks that were in the parade. Again, Isla just "loves" getting her picture taken, but the rest of us were happy. It was a great weekend and on Sunday after it was all over it was nap time for everyone.

75th Annual Water Carnival

This week kicked off the 75th Annual Water Carnival here in DL. This year I will get to enjoy the events with the girls as I am no longer a Jaycee member and required to work all of the events. Last night we took Isla and Greta to the kids concert in the park. It took Isla a bit to warm up to the idea but soon she was out dancing with all the other kids. Tim Eggebraaten, a local DL police officer and entertainer put on the show and as always he doesn't disappoint. He is so great with the kids and Isla had a wonderful time. Even dad and Greta had a good time watching big sister dance away. We had to leave just a few minutes early because it was past bedtime for my 2 pumpkins but we will for sure take in this event in the years to come.

Perfect Necklace

I just got the perfect necklace! There is a shop out at Shady Hallow Flea Market (roughly 4 miles outside of DL) called Patina White, which is absolutely fabulous. Check out her website for a peak of what she has to offer: http://patinawhite.typepad.com/patina_white/
Anyhow....I saw a similar necklace on her website and asked if she could make me one with the girls' names and it turned out great. The 2 charms are their birthstones and I could not be happier with it. I've bought other things from her store and have never been disappointed. This will go with everything and it's so simple but just what I've been wanting.

End of Soccer

Tonight was Isla's last night of soccer for this summer. I like to joke and say it was our last night of organized chaos for the next 11 months. She did really well with her first experience of organized sports. It's hard to explain to a 3 year old to go after and take the ball when up until now, all we've ever been preaching to her was to "share" and "take turns". Anyhow I was able to get a few action photos so I thought I'd include them. Of course I forgot my camera for the last night, but 2 of my friends took a team picture and when I get it, I'll post that one as well.

4th of July 2010

We all headed to Lake Osakis for our annual 4th of July get-together. We are so fortunate that we are all able to be there at the same time and spend some quality time with each other. It was so much fun to see the young ones playing and it makes me even more excited for years to come when they can start playing together. We had excellent weather for being at the lake. On Saturday the best place to be was in the water. It was hot and humid but the lake felt great. Isla had so much fun this year! It was also a lot of fun watching Noah run around and talk about everything he sees. Even though we can't understand all of his words, his is only 18 months, it's still fun to listen to him. I think next summer he and Isla are going to have a blast together. Ashely had a 3 year old shadow this year and whenever she was out of Isla's sight, Isla would immediately ask "where's Ashely?" She is such a good cousin to Isla, always playing with her and letting her tag along on whatever she is doing. Clearly in the first picture posted, Isla is DONE with taking pictures. That was taken just as we were packing up to leave and she was quite tired. I can't believe summer is already half over. More than half for me actually, I go back to work on August 23rd, so I better make the most of the next few weeks. We've got lots of things planned so hopefully I can keep up with pictures and posts, we all know how good I am at remembering my camera.

Sprinkler Fun

Isla had her first experience running through the sprinkler last week. It was so hot and humid but I hadn't filled up her pool with water so we just moved the sprinkler and she had a great time running through it. Here's a few pictures I managed to capture.
